Procesual Painting

2023

Painting, installation
Processual Painting is a series of large-format paintings exploring the phenomenon of power and its impact. In the project, painting ceases to be the goal and becomes the instrument: classically trained as an academic painter, I use this language to express the process of the object's transformation.

Each work undergoes an intensive process in which the canvas becomes the object of external influence: paint, pigments and glue are rubbed into its surface, causing deformations, tears and damage. In each work, the silhouette of a head is repeatedly rubbed out, symbolising that power hides behind multiple barriers and masks, blurring its identity and erasing the signs that could define it. This process repeats itself as a metaphor for how power becomes increasingly elusive and unrecognisable, hiding its forms and manifestations.

The canvas transforms into a kind of "social body", filled with traces of transformation, reflecting changes in the material, in social reality, always hidden from direct observation and difficult to trace. Ultimately, the canvases become a metaphor for the application of power and its consequences: torn and heavy, they are hung in space on meat hooks, like distorted bodies.
