Ilya Sprindzhuk (b. 1994, Minsk, Belarus) is a multidisciplinary artist who has been living in political exile in Warsaw since 2021. His practice encompasses painting, installations, sculpture, and actionism - his works are often large-scale and interact with the space. He is interested in how local histories, places, and symbols can serve as tools of political control and how they intersect with processes occurring on a global scale. Central to the artist’s practice is the concept of care (or maintenance), understood as a political practice, as well as set of conditions and repeated daily gestures through which memory retains its density and power. This also has a personal dimension: as an artist in political exile, he takes care of a place he has to become part of.
